Sterling Forest
There are several hiking trails to appreciate in Sterling Forest and some trails are designated for cross country skiing and mountain biking (but be sure to confirm where exactly these sports are permitted). One of the trails will lead you to the old fire tower. But my favorite walk is a loop around Sterling Lake. To complete it, start at the visitors center and then follow blue blazes. It is a circular trail around Sterling Lake and it will take you 2-3 hours to complete. You may enjoy not only a walk but perhaps even a run. The lake is pristine and beautiful!
Sterling Forest is a home to bears, as well as endangered and threatened bird species. It is a perfect place to get in touch with mother nature and take a pleasure in breath of fresh air.
Also, make a note for yourself and stop at the Visitor Center where you can find a gift shop and a really big, interactive, 3-D “map” representing the entire area of Sterling Forest.
