Ah, the attorney review process—three to five days of suspense, negotiation, and legal fine-tuning before going under contract that can feel a bit like waiting for your favorite TV show to get renewed for another season. Will the contract stay as-is? Will there be plot twists?  Buckle up!

THE CLOCK STARTS TICKING

Once both the buyer and seller sign a standard contract, the attorney review period may officially begin. This is when each party’s attorney steps in to work their legal magic. They comb through the contract, looking for areas that need tweaking, clarifying, or outright renegotiating. Essentially, this is the time when your lawyer ensures you’re not signing up for any unpleasant surprises—like accidentally agreeing to include your golden retriever in the sale😁😁😁

THE GREAT REVISION

Attorneys don’t just review; they revise. During this phase, your lawyer may propose addendums that add protections, modify terms, or even rewrite entire sections of the contract to better suit your interests. The other side’s attorney may accept, reject, or counter these proposals, leading to a thrilling back-and-forth that real estate agents call “stress-eating snacks while refreshing our email inbox”😁😁😁

NOTE: the items that were agreed upon during attorney review, take precedence.
